Long-term car rental gives me freedom without obligations

Own or rent? This is a question that has been asked more and more often in recent years by people who live in cities, travel frequently, or simply do not want to be tied to one specific car. Long-term car rental is becoming a lifestyle and a practical solution for those who prefer flexibility, freedom of movement, and minimal hassle. We asked one of our regular car rental customers why he chose this option and what advantages he sees in it.

When and why do you usually rent a car?

I live in Prague, where parking is becoming increasingly difficult. Owning a car would mean dealing with a lot of extra things for me—from finding a parking space to maintenance and regular expenses. Long-term rental, on the other hand, gives me freedom. I pick up the car when I really need it—where it's already waiting for me—and after the ride, I simply leave it there again. It's convenient and worry-free.

Why didn't you buy your own car or lease one?

Leasing commits me to regular monthly payments regardless of whether I use the car at all. And that doesn't make sense to me. I'm often traveling outside the country for several months of the year, so the car would just be sitting here. Why pay for it when I don't need it? I see a car more as a practical thing and not something I should build a relationship with. Unless it's an investment or a favorite, I don't feel the need to own one.

Do you change the type of car according to your needs?

Definitely. That's where I see the main advantage of long-term rental. For a vacation in Croatia, I'll take a nine-seater minibus or a larger van, depending on what makes more sense at the time. When I want to surprise my partner with a romantic weekend, I go for a convertible. I can choose a car that suits the specific situation and don't have to limit myself to one universal vehicle.

What advantages do you see in renting a car?

I appreciate the flexibility the most. I only take a car when I really need it – otherwise, I don't have to worry about it at all. I don't have to deal with maintenance, changing tires, servicing, or whether it will start in winter. I just get in and drive. And that suits me perfectly.

Have you ever considered operating leasing?

Yes, I have. But it's still a long-term commitment – usually for at least a year. And I don't know what will happen in three months. Times are fast-paced, and things change a lot. That's why flexible rental makes more sense to me. It better suits the way I live today.

What does the car rental service make easiest for you?

Mainly accessibility and speed. I have my own account through which I can order a car at any time – even on Christmas Eve. Cars are available throughout Prague. Sometimes I have it delivered to my home, other times I pick it up at a shopping center and combine it with shopping. Delivery usually takes place within an hour of ordering. That's great service for me.

Can you think of a situation where renting a car really saved the day?

Definitely. For example, a wedding. Who has a white car for the bride and a black car for the groom at home? The rental company offered elegant models in various colors and a professional driver who arrived in formal attire and ensured that the whole day went smoothly. They also provided transportation for guests and foreign relatives who flew in on the day of the wedding. The driver picked them up directly at the airport, communicated with them in English, and took them to the venue. This experience confirmed to me that it's not just about cars, but about a complete, high-quality service - reliable and representative.

Would you say that thanks to the car rental company, you were able to maintain your freedom and comfort?

Definitely. Owning a car is no longer a necessity for me. If anyone hasn't tried it yet, I would definitely recommend it – the difference in comfort is huge. And in terms of cost, it's often cheaper than owning a car. What's more, I have the option of driving a different car every month, which is a nice change and gives me freedom of choice.

In the interview, long-term car rental proved to be not only a practical alternative to ownership, but also a way to maintain freedom, comfort, and adapt to the pace of today's world. For those who don't want to deal with parking, maintenance, or being tied to one type of car, this approach may be the ideal choice.

Are you considering whether long-term rental could work for you?

Try renting a car in practice - even if only for a month. You may find that having a car available when you need it and not having it on your hands when you don't need it is exactly the convenience you've been looking for.
